While we do spend a lot of time talking about paint, let's talk about your vehicle's glass and why you should care for it as carefully as paint. Just like your vehicle's paint, your windows are extremely sensitive and prone to imperfections.
Let's get to know automotive glass a little better. The first type of glass used on modern day vehicles is laminated glass which is what windshields are made of. Its made by sandwiching a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) between two layers of glass. PVB allows the windshield to remain intact upon impact while also adding rigidity to the vehicle's roof.

The side and rear windows of your vehicle are made of tempered glass. Similar to a smartphone screen protector, it can withstand the everyday use of your vehicle despite the vibrations. But upon impact, shatters into small, dull pieces.

Although these technologies in automotive glass are beneficial for safety reasons, they do result in a softer surface than traditional glass. From dirty windshield wipers, to dry wiping with a towel, almost anything that can scratch paint can scratch glass as well.

So how do we correct it and how do you prevent it? There are 2 types of ways to correct imperfections on glass: Topical and subsurface correction. In most cases, glass imperfections should be corrected using a machine polisher (https://amzn.to/4jv3Oa4) . It can also be done by hand but it would take a lot of energy and time with the use of glass polish.
If you attempt it by hand, we recommend using Diamond Magic (https://amzn.to/495C9sx ) which is a hard water spot and multi-purpose cleaner and a black glove like this (https://amzn.to/4pZ2myU).

Preventing glass imperfections is actually rather simple. The cheapest and easy way is to use a dedicated window cleaner (https://amzn.to/4qAl143), waterless wash (https://amzn.to/4qzEMbT), or quick detail spray (https://amzn.to/4kF0N7x) paired with a quality microfiber towel (https://amzn.to/46KhxUX) when wiping your windows. The other way, of course, is to ceramic coat your windows! The slickness and hardness of the coating will reduce friction while also protecting your windows from the elements.
