MYTH 5: I can clean my vehicle’s windows with Windex.

While household cleaners such as Windex, Zep, or Simple Green are excellent cleaners for your home, they can have a serious impact on automotive windows.

Why? One of the main active ingredients in these cleaners is AMMONIA. This chemical is added to these cleaners because of its degreasing and evaporating properties to leave a streak-free finish. While this sounds great, the ammonia reacts with window film causing it to bubble, discolor, and flake.

But what about the exterior glass? Even though the film is on the inside of the glass, ammonia can cause the exterior windows to have a streaky residue when applied in hotter environments. It also has the potential to remove any protective coatings that may have been applied.

What‘s the solution?
The answer is simple. Buy an automotive glass cleaner! Read the label first. Look for “Ammonia Free” or “window tint safe”. Pair it with your favorite glass towel and you’re all set!

There are many glass cleaners out there but our personal favorite is Invisible Glass Cleaner (https://amzn.to/40fKWmh) For an affordable price, you can have a dependable streak-free finish with excellent cleaning properties.
