MYTH 13: A rinseless or waterless wash scratches paint.

You've probably noticed in the past few years that there has been an increase in rinseless wash products that don't require the use of a water hose to get your exterior clean. But can wiping a dirty car with these products really scratch your paint?

The short answer is no. A good quality rinseless wash product should provide enough lubrication and surfactants to safely remove dirt from the surface. However, wiping an extremely dirty vehicle with these products will likely cause micro scratches in the paint. To avoid this, it is recommended to pre-rinse either with a hose or by liberally spraying the product before wiping.

The main benefits to a rinseless wash mostly involve environmental concerns. A rinseless wash uses significantly less water than the traditional method while producing the same results. This is most useful for those of you who live in apartments or in states that have strict water regulations. On top of that, its more efficient because you're not spending extra time rinsing and drying the vehicle.

"Why not use a car wash soap and a bucket?"

Think about it. The point of using car wash soap is to provide slickness to safely carry the dirt off of the vehicle before rinsing followed by drying with a towel. A rinseless wash does the same exact thing! On top of that, instead of dragging dirt on the paint, rinseless washes encapsulate it before it is carried off with your mitt or towel.
